The Bee Gees were originally a group of three brothers who reached success in the late 60s before disco music had made its stamp on the music industry. Disco became increasingly popular in the early 70s. The brothers, Barry, Robin, and Maurice, were a thriving trio writing and singing pop music, but a soundtrack would soon escalate them into superior stardom.

The 1977 movie soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever propelled the Bee Gees into the unstable disco era and revitalized a struggling music genre. Disco was losing popularity, but the movie and soundtrack revived the funky disco sounds. Saturday Night Fever’s soundtrack became the highest-selling album of its time and the Bee Gees’ harmonious sound renowned.

Suddenly the Bee Gees were known around the world. Although they sang many songs, their contributions to the disco era were exceptional. “Stayin’ Alive”, “Night Fever”, “How Deep Is Your Love”, “More Than a Woman”, and “If I Can’t Have You” were written and recorded by the Bee Gees for the movie. So, did the Bee Gees rule the disco area? Well, with more than 220 million records sold worldwide and five songs on the top ten charts in 1978, it would be difficult to argue otherwise.

My daughter was in her early teens while we were out running errands, and I popped my “Elvis’ Greatest Hits” CD into the car’s player. She listened without comment the first few trips we took going all those places parents and kids go. I even told her how Elvis had created a stir in his day by how he gyrated his hips when singing, but how tame that was by today’s standards, and she politely listened.

But one day she totally stunned me as we got into the car by asking, “ Can you play Elvis’ Greatest Hits?” I said, “You like that?” She responded with a hearty, “Oh yeah!” In the weeks ahead I lost count of the times she chanted “Elvis’ Greatest Hits” whenever we went out. Not that I minded. Listening to the King in CD with four speakers instead of on scratchy records taught me that this boy could flat out sing.

And I had a thirteen year old with an interest in classical music and show tunes that sang right along with him. I gave her another copy of the CD on her 18th birthday to listen to in her car. Elvisthe King For All Generations!

Electric guitars and Rock n’ Roll are practically synonymous. It’s difficult to imagine one without the other. Les Paul himself would surely agree. There would then be none -with authority- left to argue, because he was the inventor.

His humble beginnings as a county fair performer led him to install a microphone in his acoustic guitar to allow those in the back, of his ever increasing audience, to hear his music. Les Paul is considered the undisputed architect of rock n’ roll. If not for his efforts men like Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page would have had to find a completely different method of getting their names published. There is little doubt that they would have been written up for something but the context would have been entirely different.

Many have made themselves famous by playing an electric guitar in a Rock n’ Roll band and many more aspire to those lofty heights of fame and fortune. Les Paul made it all possible and he should always be remembered by those who would use his invention to establish territorial rights in the hearts and minds of Rock ‘n Roll’s children.

The amplification of the guitar was the birth of Rock n’ Roll.

There have been many great bands during the long and rich history of Rock and Roll music. Trying to determine which band is the best rock band of all time isn’t an easy task. With so many great bands to choose from, the debate will always be a matter of opinion. So who is the greatest rock band in our opinion? In our opinion the greatest rock band is The Beatles

The Beatles were from Liverpool, England and took the rock and roll world by storm in the 1960s. The most famous version of the rock band was with Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison. The band was so full of talent that three out of the four members would enjoy great success as solo artists. The Beatles were the first English rock band to make it big in the United States and paved the way for other English bands to gain fans in the United States.

The Beatles had many great hits such as “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and “Please, Please me.” Their songs would go on to help define and era of rock and roll and helped make them popular to this day.More info here: An Olympic Beatles Reunion – Fab or Fabrication?

The Beatles have been one of the most influential bands in music history. Even those who do not care for their music personally, without a doubt love a band that has been influenced by them. The four members of the band had unique personalities that pulled in interest from people of all ages, and from all countries around the world. John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison quickly became historical musical sensations after the release of their first U.K. Album ‘Please, Please Me,’ in the year 1963.

Over the years that The Beatles were popular their style progressed, being influenced by political, cultural, and other musical events. During the beginning of the acid movement, close to the release of Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon,’ ‘Yellow Submarine’ showed a new, stranger side of the Beatles. As their music continued to evolve past ‘Yellow Submarine’ the band members began to clash, no longer focusing on the music, but on personal issues.

After some time of conflict, the musicians career together came to an end in 1970, not finishing the legal proceedings until 1975. To the dismay of many the Beatles were no more. The members of the band going on to create new musical projects of their own.

Music has been around for as long as mankind. Music can be beautiful, hard driven, annoying, soft, loud, moving, emotional, sad, joyful, and forgiving. What is it about music that can incite such a range of emotions?

Music has evolved into a medium that can convey emotions like no other. Music can open your mind, soul and heart in so many ways. Music is to the ears what books are to the eyes. Limitless, informative, creative, and heart tugging. All through history, cultures have used music to celebrate, to grieve, and to express love.

No matter what kind of music you enjoy, and most people enjoy more than one type, most listeners agree that they love music. Maybe they can’t say exactly what they love about it, but they like the way it makes them feel. They like the beat, the rhythm, the words, the harmony, the guitar rift, or drum solo.

Music has actually even saved lives. Young people have found their niche in music and it became their desired profession. Rockers like Eric Clapton and John Lennon grew up and fell in love with rock and roll and were happy only when they were playing or making music.
